Today, Mummy and daddy took me for a hike on trails I haven’t been on before. There were so many new and interesting smells! There was also one bad smell, which mummy said was skunks and to be avoided at all costs.
Apparently humans called Miwok used to roam the hills where we walked. Mummy said they are an indigenous tribe of Native American Indians who were originally hunter/gatherers. That didn’t really help me understand who they are but a tribe of hunters sounds a lot like me and my dog pack. So the Miwok must be pretty cool like us. 🐾👣
Look Mummy, I am a Miwok!! I was so happy to be walking with the Miwok and Daddy. The trails were so beautiful and full of new smells. I kept having to turn back and smile at Mummy to let her know just how happy I was.
Sometimes, I asked Daddy to stop to make sure Mummy was still with us. She was so busy taking photos of everything that I thought we had lost her or the Miwok had come and gathered her up.
After a long trek up the trails, we made it to a high point where we could see for miles around. Mummy climbed up on a big rock and waved to Daddy. I wanted to go up on the big rock too but I couldn’t find a way up that was safe for my paws.
Eventually, Daddy took me to another high point and helped me clamber up the rocks so that I could wave at everyone too.
We stood at the top and looked all around. We were as high as the big black birds that circle around in the sky.
Look at me, Mummy! I am as high as the sky!! The air tastes lovely up here.
I am so lucky to be all the way up here with Daddy, Mummy and the Miwok. I love it here!
I loved it so much that I wanted to stay and watch the sun set on the ridge. It was so beautiful and the sky was amazing.
I wasn’t scared of the dark because Daddy was with me. Eventually we had to climb all the way back down again though.

On the way down, we stopped at this bench to give Daddy a rest and watched the sun go lower. Walking with the Miwok sure is an amazing adventure!
