When Your Hips Ain’t So Hip….

It has been a tough couple of weeks …. all of a sudden, I am having a lot of pain in my rear left hip. I can’t put a lot of weight on it and when I do, it just gives way. So I’m hobbling about on three legs most of the time, which is hard with my arthritis.

I have an appointment with a specialist next week and in the meantime, it’s easy days for me. Oddly enough, Daddy has a hip issue too. He had hip surgery a few months ago. So the two of us are spending a lot of time resting at the moment.

I’ve fallen down quite a few times because when my left leg gives way, my right leg follows it and BOOM! I’m flat on the floor, legs in all directions. A couple of times I fell at the bottom of the stairs, so mummy and daddy put special rugs at the bottom of all the stairs for me. Now when my legs feel weak, they don’t slide out as I have something to grip…and a softer landing.

I did give mummy quite a scare a couple of days ago when I fell off a grassy verge and pancaked on the hard road. Boy, did my teeth chatter as my face hit the ground! I haven’t seen mummy move so fast in a long time! She ran over and was checking me out, making me sit still so she could make sure I hadn’t hurt myself badly. I did hurt my face but most of all I hurt my pride. I was so embarrassed and just wanted to get up and keep moving but mummy would insist on fussing!

Mummy took me to the vet to get all sorts of picture taken. Pictures called “X-Rays”. These pictures show that I might have an issue with my hip . I told mummy that I didn’t need that sedation or those pictures to tell me that!

Mummy told me that X-Rays show where the bones are. I asked her if the X-Rays would show me where the baby back rib bones are!!

Boy did I roll with laughter! So much so that I rolled off my bed!
